Kai Lenny and Annabel Anderson have taken out the Camp David SUP World Cup in Hamburg, Germany, defeating a solid international field to claim stop #5 of the 2013 Stand Up World Series. The battle for second was tight however, with Casper Steinfath, Beau O’Brian and Leonard Nika tied after the two races, while Angie Jackson just managed to take second place from young gun Manca Notar.

BIC SUP team rider, European #1 and “gutsiest performance of the year” nominee Eric Terrien has unveiled his new prototype board for this year’s Molokai-2-Oahu.
The Frenchman showed off his new design, created by BIC head shaper Patrice Remoiville, in La Plaine Sur Mer, France this week. Like most brands, BIC doesn’t sell a production Unlimited board, but Eric is a big fan of Molokai and wanted to paddle his own board next month. Eric finished 6th at Molokai 2012 and despite perhaps the most competitive Molokai field ever set to battle across the Kaiwi Channel, should be right up there again on July 28th. → READ MORE

Travis Grant and Connor Baxter have dominated the 2013 SUP Race Cup, which drew a stacked field of 100 paddlers to St. Maxime, France and marked the official start of the unofficial European SUP Racing Tour presented by NSP.
This event was a tale of two days; on Saturday the winds were apocalyptic and the Beach Race turned into a survival paddle, while Sunday was much calmer (and warmer), producing an epic Distance Race.
The field was absolutely stacked, as many of the world’s best paddlers in Europe for the next few weeks, but in the end it was the favourites Travis and Connor who filled the top two spots on both days. Click through for the full results and race recap… → READ MORE

The 2013 Carolina Cup was huge. Hundreds of paddlers descended on Wrightsville Beach, including many of the world’s best, to instantly make this one of the races of 2013.
In the end it was Danny Ching who stole the show in the men’s Elite Race, while Annabel Anderson put in a similarly impressive display on the women’s side. However one performance that shouldn’t be unnoticed is that of Eric Terrien, the consistently-underrated Frenchman who got closer to Ching than anyone.
Sure, Danny Ching finished four minutes clear, which is an awesome effort against this sort of talent, but the race for second sounds like it was a fascinating tactical battle. So click through to hear Eric’s insights into the gruelling 12.5 mile “Graveyard” race at the Carolina Cup… → READ MORE
Danny Ching has won the 2013 Carolina Cup at Wrightsville Beach, claiming his second straight title in emphatic style to cement his position as the world’s fastest stand up paddler. Danny opened up a big gap on the field and was well clear by the end of the 12.5 mile “Graveyard” Elite Race course, crossing the line exactly four minutes ahead of his nearest rival.
France’s Eric Terrien also paddled extremely well to claim 2nd ahead of an all-star cast that included Jamie Mitchell (3rd), Chase Kosterlitz (4th), Ryan Helm (5th) and Matt Becker (6th).
Meanwhile Annabel Anderson put on a dominant display to claim victory ahead of Jenny Kalmbach and Brandi Baksic. Click through for FULL RESULTS… → READ MORE
SUP Racing is growing super fast in Europe, with hundreds of events throughout the year in pretty much every single country. And nowhere is it bigger than in France, home to many of the races and most of the leading paddlers in Europe.
Next month we’ve got the big SUP Race Cup in St. Maxime, which kicks off six major weeks of SUP racing on the Continent, but in the meantime there are plenty of other races happening. Last weekend it was the Jade Paddle Race in Brittany, an event organised by European #1 Eric Terrien’s family. As always there were plenty of keen paddlers on the start line, and, as always, Eric Terrien reigned supreme (though Gaetene Sene certainly put up a fight). Check out some great pics of the action plus full race results and recap… → READ MORE

It’s that time of year again, when we look back at twelve whole months of Stand Up Paddle races and decide who the top performers were.
The Top 12 of 2012 attempts to rank the world’s elite Stand Up Paddlers based on their performances over the past twelve months. That’s no easy feat: There are a LOT of good SUP athletes out there. In fact we had a short-list of 35 guys when we were trying to calculate our Top 12, and honestly, almost all of them could have been squeezed onto the final list if we slightly moved the criteria one way of the other.
But who made the final list? And who scored the #1 spot? Click through to find out… → READ MORE

Meanwhile Faustine Merret, Manca Notar and Sonni Hönschied dominated the women’s division.
Conditions were close to freezing, with the temperature hovering around 4°C (39°F) as the paddlers took to the water just after sunrise. There were plenty of wetsuits, booties, gloves and beanies on show. The 12km course stretched up and down the famous river, with competitors gliding under historic bridges and even going past the Eiffel Tower at one point. Over 200 paddlers braved the cold for what must have been one of the largest ever SUP races in Europe. → READ MORE

The 2012 SUP Race rankings for Europe have been released. Unbeknownst to many paddlers outside of Euro-land, there’s actually a dedicated organisation helping to run a lot of the races in that part of the world. It’s kind of like the WPA for Europe. Though while the U.S. has the ambitiously-named World Paddle Association, Europe has the more logically-titled “European SUP Association“.
Here are some quick stats to put the 2012 EuroSUPA season in perspective… → READ MORE
