[RESULTS] French SUP Race Championships (UPDATED)

The 2012 “Championnat de France SUP Race” (aka the French National SUP Race Championships) took place this weekend in Crozon-Morgat on France’s West coast. The event was part of the Presqu’île (“Peninsula”) Paddle Race and the results will help decide who scores a spot on Team France for the 2013 ISA World SUP Championships in Peru.

What a crazy weekend.. the 2012 Battle of the Paddle has come to a close, but competitors, spectators and fans will be talking about this event for months and years to come.

There were so many highlights and memorable moments. From Danny Ching reclaiming his crown, to Annabel Anderson announcing herself as the new women’s champion, to a bunch of stoked young groms charging like crazy. They call the Battle of the Paddle “Super Bowl of SUP” for a reason…

There was plenty of carnage during yesterday’s Surf Race To Victory at Huntington Beach.

[RESULTS] Eric Terrien Dodges The Carnage To Claim The Cash @ The Surf Race To Victory

The awesome Surf Race To Victory series wrapped up today at Huntington Beach. Plenty of pros have arrived in town ahead of the Battle of the Paddle, so there was a very solid level of competition. Plus with a decent swell pulsing along the coast, there was also a LOT of carnage…

Several of the world’s best lined up for the knockout sprint format and were looking uber-stylish the event’s signature blue crash helmets. Kody Kerbox, Connor Baxter, Byron Kurt and Brennan Rose took out the first round heats, with Kerbox looking in very good form. On the women’s side it seemed to be a battle between Candice Appleby and Morgan Hoesterey, with the pair trading victories in the first couple of rounds.   → READ MORE

[VIDEO] Stand Up World Series Cocoa Beach (Day 1 Highlights)

The Stand Up World Series continued in Florida on the weekend, with the Cocoa Beach Paddle Classic. There were plenty of pros in town for the event, and the East Coast gave them a warm welcome with a solid swell making the racing exciting.

[RESULTS] Kai Lenny Wins Stand Up World Series @ Cocoa Beach

The Stand Up World Series continued this weekend in Florida with the Cocoa Beach Paddle Classic. Saturday saw the Long Distance SUP race while on Sunday it was the Knockout Sprints.

It was a star-studded field, with plenty of pros (many of whom were in Florida for last week’s big surf trade show in Orlando) chasing the World Series points and prize money.

Connor Baxter and Kai Lenny renewed their rivalry in yesterday’s distance race, with Connor taking the honours to reverse the result from Chicago. However in Sunday’s sprints, Connor was knocked out in the semis while Kai took the win, giving Kai Lenny the overall victory and bumping Connor down to third place for the weekend, behind Fernando Stalla. Time Out On The Board Class Wars (12’6″ vs 14′ etc etc)

There’s been a lot of talk about board classes lately (including from us).

12’6″ vs. 14′, 14′ vs Unlimited, Multiple board classes vs one class races, “One Design” SUP races. What’s fair? What’s not? What’s exciting? What’s boring? What’s good for the future of SUP racing? What’s not? A lot of talk. But talking is just that, talking. It’s not paddling (and it’s nowhere near as fun). So at the risk of armchair SUP racers taking over the discussion, someone has stepped in to call time out.

BIC Launches World’s First “One Design” SUP Race Series

BIC SUP have just announced plans for a “One Design” Stand Up Paddle race series, which they’re claiming is a world first.

The French outfit, best known in the SUP racing scene for sponsoring European #1 Eric Terrien, will be debuting their one design SUP race series at next week’s surf trade show in Orlando, Florida.

All competitors in BIC One Design SUP races will use the exact same board: the new 12’6″ Wing. Each event will also feature the same course (roughly 800m long), with races consisting of short, knockout-style, one-lap sprints.   → READ MORE

[RESULTS] Happy Summer SUP Race (Namur, Belgium)

Early results are in from the latest major race in Europe: the Happy Summer SUP Race in Namur, Belgium.

With $10,000 on the line the race drew most of Europe’s elite Stand Up Paddle racers. Eric Terrien continued his Euro dominance by taking out the men’s race, while Celine Guesdon ended Olivia Piana’s unbeaten streak in the women’s.   → READ MORE

Early results are in from the the €5,000 Massilia SUP Race in Marseille, France.

Eric Terrien kept his European winning streak intact by winning Saturday’s 8km Beach Race ahead of the Danish Viking, Casper Steinfath. Frenchman Gaetan Sene was third.

[RESULTS] The SUP Race Cup, France (UPDATED)

The SUP Race Cup (aka the International Mediterranean Trophy) was held last weekend in St. Maxime, on France’s famous Côte d’Azur.

This is probably the most prestigious Stand Up Paddle race event in Europe and the 2012 edition drew the best from the continent, such as Eric Terrien, Gaetene Sene and Casper Steinfath, as well as international stars like Bart de Zwart and Chase Kosterlitz.

Over 100 stand up paddlers competed but it was BIC Sport’s Eric Terrien and Fanatic’s Olivia Piana who were the big winners, with both of them going through the weekend undefeated.

[RESULTS] Nah Skwell Trophy (France)

Stand Up Paddle racing is growing like crazy in Europe and France is no doubt leading the way. This weekend saw another big French race, the Nah Skwell Trophy.

Eric Terrien, seemingly unbeatable in Europe, was the big winner. Terrien ahead of well-known French paddlers such as Gaetene Sene and Greg Closier, as well as young guns like Arthur Daniel.   → READ MORE

[RESULTS] Stand Up World Series France

Results from the Stand Up World Series France. There were two days of stand up paddle racing action @ La Torche in Brittany, which featured a Long Distance race and Knockout Sprints.

Eric Terrien was the big winner, taking out both races. Kai Lenny snuck into 2nd place overall after a runner-up Sprint finish, while the Danish Viking Casper Steinfath took out a solid 3rd overall. On the women’s side, Olivia Piana from France was too strong, winning both the Sprint and Long Distance races.

[RESULTS] Eric Terrien Wins Stand Up World Series France

Eric Terrien has won the Long Distance race at the La Torche (France) leg of the Stand Up World Series.

Young gun Kai Lenny led at the start, but Terrien made his move in the back half of the race to secure a sweet victory in his home country.
