Jay Wild Wins The Tahoe Fall Classic As Race Season On The Lake Comes To A Close

Tahoe Cup Fall Classic stand up paddle raceJay Wild has defeated Ben Sarrazin, Brennan Rose and a host of local talent to claim the Tahoe Fall Classic at Lake Tahoe. This was the third and final stop of the 2014 Tahoe Cup race series, which also saw the Donner Lake and Jam From The Dam events.

Rob Rojas took line honours on his unlimited, making it a clean sweep for the series, however in the battle for the Elite 14′ title it was a close one between Jay and Ben. Another Big Race Up At Tahoe…

Tahoe Cup Donner Lake raceNo matter how many times I post about a race in Lake Tahoe that attracted hundreds of competitors, I’m always surprised to see just how many paddlers this region supports. Maybe because it’s miles from the ocean, maybe because it’s way up in the sky, maybe because you’ve probably never heard of the place unless you live in the States (or really love skiing). I’m not really sure why, but for some bizarre reason I’m always surprised. In a good way. Because no matter how you look at it, Lake Tahoe truly is a paddling mecca…

The Lake showed its true colours again on the weekend, when over 150 paddlers hit Donner Lake (technically not Lake Tahoe, but close enough) for the unofficial season opener, the O’Neill Tahoe Cup Donner Lake race. On a perfect day for paddling – warm weather, sunny skies and a windless, glassy lake – racers hit the water at 9am for the start of the 5 miler (8 kms).   → READ MORE

[RESULTS] Chase Kosterlitz, Lina Augaitis Win San Francisco’s Battle Of The Bay (UPDATED)

Battle of the Bay ResultsChase Kosterlitz has won the 2013 Battle of the Bay, claiming the overall title ahead of Fanatic Teammate Jake Jensen on a time count back, after the two traded 1-2 finishes in the Distance and Course Races. Mo Freitas was third with Ryan Helm and Jay Wild rounding out the Top 5 in San Francisco. Meanwhile Lina Augaitis, fresh from her win in Tahoe last week, put on another great display to make it a clean sweep of the weekend.

Jay Wild Jams It At The Dam, As “Tahoe Cup” Race #2 Draws Over 150 Paddlers To The Lake

Fiona Wylde Lake Tahoe SUPJay Wild has taken out the Jam From The Dam on Lake Tahoe, the second of three stops in the 2013 O’Neill Tahoe Cup Series. The Tahoe local was the first across the line in a race featuring 154 paddlers, highlighting once again that Tahoe is one of the leading hotspots for SUP racing.

Jay won ahead of Ben Sarrazin and Seth Springer, while Rob Rojas was 4th and America’s Cup winning skipper Jimmy Spithill finished 5th. Young gun Fiona Wylde was impressive in the women’s race, finishing two minutes clear of Jen Fuller and beating most of the men while she was at it. Click through for the full results…   → READ MORE

[RESULTS] Hennessey’s US Championships

The Hobie & Hennessey’s U.S. Championships were held last Saturday @ Dana Point, with a whole bunch of international talent coming out to race.

Fernando Stalla won the 12’6″ class, while Brandi Baksic narrowly took out the women’s race ahead of Candice Appleby. In the battle of the 14 footers it was Ryan Helm who snatched the victory, just seconds ahead of Kody Kerbox and Slater Trout. Click through for full results…   → READ MORE

Check out the action from Lake Tahoe on the weekend, which hosted the first of the 2012 O’Neill Tahoe Cup SUP Race Series events, the Donner Lake Memorial Paddle.

[RESULTS] World Champs Technical Course Race: Travis Grant Wins GOLD

RESULTS of the ISA World Standup Paddle and Paddleboard Championship Technical Course and Team Relay races.

Team Australia was dominant taking 2x Gold and 2x Silver, with Team U.S.A. grabbing 1x of each.

Some of the minnows of world paddling got in on the action as well, with countries like Austria winning their first ever ISA medals.
