The 2013 Punta Sayulita Classic has just kicked off down Mexico way, with a stack of talent competing all weekend in a little slice of paradise.

It’s that time of year again, where it seems like almost every weekend there’s an international SUP race happening somewhere in the world. Last week it was Peru, next week it’s Patagonia, but this weekend all eyes will be on Sayulita, Mexico for the Punta Sayulita Classic.

Plenty of familiar international names will be battling local guns such as Fernando Stalla and Ryan Helm in the races, while there will also be an appearance by ocean legend Gerry Lopez.

Think of it as a smaller version of the Battle of the Paddle, except instead of being all serious and hardcore, this event has a totally laid back, party atmosphere happening all weekend. Wish we were there…   → READ MORE

I’m calling it now: This is going to be one of the highlights of the 2013 SUP racing season. The 2013 Punta Sayulita Classic is being held this March down Mexico way, and the event has already attracted a who’s who of the SUP world.

Gerry Lopez, Connor Baxter, Candice Appleby, Chuck Patterson, Ryan Helm, Kai Lenny, Fernando Stalla, Jenny Kalmbach, Slater Trout, Mo Freitas, Zane Schweitzer, Vanina Walsh, Anthony Vela, Talia Gangini (and you’d expect plenty more to sign-on in the next month or two) will all be heading to Sayulita for Elite and Distance SUP races between the 8th to the 10th of March.   → READ MORE
