Starboard Sweep: Fiona Wylde, Connor Baxter claim victory at the Gorge

Connor Baxter and Fiona Wylde have made it a clean sweep for Team Starboard at the Gorge Paddle Challenge in Hood River, Oregon today.

Fiona, the three-time defending champ, was once again unstoppable as her home course turned on the downwind conditions. Fiona’s fourth-straight DD crown cemented her reputation as not only the Queen of Hood River but also one of the most-talented bump-riders in the sport.

Seychelle, Boothy win the Battle of the Bay in San Francisco

In brief: Aussie powerhouse Michael Booth has flexed his muscles to win the annual race around the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco today. The current world number one paddled clear of the small but highly elite field to claim the win the 2018 Battle of the Bay a minute ahead of his highly under-rated compatriot Ty Judson (Team NSP).

The women’s contest was a lot closer, with Seychelle being pushed all the way to the line by young SIC team mate Jade Howson, while Fiona Wylde rounded out the podium in this 4-star Paddle League regional event.

Seychelle has claimed her third SUP 11 City Tour title after a roller-coaster battle with Japan’s Yuka Sato.

Seychelle has taken out the 10th anniversary edition of the classic SUP 11 City Tour, putting in a superhuman performance on the final time trial to claim her third title after a roller-coaster battle with Japan’s Yuka Sato.

The Floridian won the first stage and looked on track for the title early, before Yuka blasted a big win on day two and then extended her lead on day three’s 12km time trial. The pendulum swung back to Seychelle on Saturday, day 4, when Yuka’s overall lead was cut down to 2 minutes 30 seconds after the Japanese dark horse was unable to keep touch in the second half of the day’s 43km stage.   → READ MORE

The Paddle League World Tour in Bilbao: Boothy holds off Lincoln; Olivia overpowers Seychelle (FULL RESULTS)

In brief: Michael Booth has flexed his muscles once again, breaking and then holding off an ultra-strong field of international talent to claim the fifth stop of The Paddle League World Tour and week 7 of the EuroTour here in the Basque city of Bilbao.

Boothy won the Iberdrola Bilbao SUP Challenge to cement his spot on top of the world rankings, however his compatriot Lincoln Dews gave the champ a fright with a lightning fast final two kilometres that saw him break away from the 11-man chase group and get within shouting distance of the powerhouse. But in the end Boothy’s lead was simply too big, which made it a race for second that Linc deservingly won.    → READ MORE

Eri Tenorio and Seychelle win the Bay Bridge Paddle as 400+ paddlers hit the water in Maryland

In brief: Dark horse Eri Tenorio claimed his first career title with victory at Maryland’s massive Bay Bridge Paddle on the weekend. The Brazilian-turned-Florida-local outclassed Paddle Monster coaching guru and ageless robot Larry Cain to claim the 3-star Paddle League Regional, while Annapolis local Fielding Pagel, known as something of a local dark horse himself, took third spot on the podium.    → READ MORE

Zamami: Sonni Honscheid Goes Five Straight; Connor Baxter Outlasts Young Gun Garioud

In brief: Sonni Honscheid has continued her unbeaten streak in season 2018 to five events after claiming the Kerama Blue Cup on Japan’s Zamami Island. Sonni was too strong yet again, however yesterday’s win wasn’t as dominant as her previous four after home nation hero Yuka Sato gave the German some serious competition.

Seychelle hung on against a fast-finishing Lina Augaitis to claim third step on the podium, while number two seed Fiona Wylde faded late to finish fifth.   → READ MORE

It was a big year for women’s racing with several athletes hitting the podiums for the first time to inject some fresh storylines into an aging saga. SIC Snags Kody Kerbox and Seychelle Hattingh to Bolster Its Global Race Team

Kody Kerbox paddle boardingSupremely talented young gun Kody Kerbox and endurance champion Seychelle Hattingh have joined SIC for season 2017, with the Hawaiian and Floridian bolstering the team after a string of departures last month.

After several years of competing alongside the world’s best, including some big results at events including the Gorge Paddle Challenge, Kody had more or less retired from the elite side of the sport last year to focus on his studies. Starboard’s Bruno Hasulyo (Hungary) and Mistral’s Seychelle Hattingh (USA) have conquered “The Ultimate Challenge” after five days and more than 200kms of (125 miles) of paddling through the Dutch countryside, winning the 8th Annual SUP 11 City Tour to add another chapter to the story of this unique and very special race.
