Michael Booth has cemented his reputation as the world’s best distance paddler, outlasting France’s Titouan Puyo and an all-star cast to win gold for Team Australia in the marathon race here at the Fiji ISA Worlds today.
Boothy helped control the pace in the lead pack along with Titou, Georges Cronsteadt, Kai Lenny and Vinni Martins, before breaking away with roughly 3km left in the 17km course. This was the scene at the 12’6 French National Titles that were held in Hossegor on the weekend, where Arthur Arutkin and Olivia Piana survived a solid chunk of the Atlantic Ocean to win the coveted Beach Race.
In the same month the WSL was in town for the Quiksilver Pro, Hossegor also provided pumping conditions for the nationals, with 4-6ft waves making this less of a race and more of a spectacle. → READ MORE
Titouan Puyo won the 14′ French Downwind Championships last week, edging out fellow world-beater Arthur Arutkin and a new name to watch, Clément Colmas, to claim the Presqu’ile Paddle Race.
Titou showed vintage form in the moderate downwind conditions, pulling away from the field to win by a clear margin. The event followed the popular new “Double Downwind” format, with a run on Saturday and another on Sunday before times were combined to produce the overall results. → READ MORE

Following the big Battle of Bavaria on Saturday, there’s been plenty of movement on the Battle of the Brands leaderboard. The big news is that NSP has edged past Naish to take over the number 2 ranking, with Titouan Puyo putting in a heroic performance on the weekend to defend his Lost Mills points from 2015.
Titou finished runner-up at the Lost Mills last year but almost didn’t race on the weekend after battling illness all week. But not only did he take his place on the start line, he battled all the way to the finish with Michael Booth and Connor Baxter, ensuring he held onto almost all of his points from 2015 and allowing NSP to move past the yellow boards from Maui.

Australia’s Michael Booth has officially ditched his “dark horse” label, winning the long distance race here in St. Maxime with a commanding performance that saw him finish a minute clear of Connor Baxter, Titouan Puyo and Steeve Teihotaata.

Steeve Teihotaata has taken out the 2016 Air France Paddle Festival in Tahiti, defeating hot favourite Titouan Puyo as well as fellow Tahitian titans Rete Ebb, Georges Cronsteadt and Tamarua Cowan to announce himself as a genuine contender on the international stage.
Following two hours of downwind and flat water paddling around Tahiti’s north-west coast, and after a close battle first with both Titou and Rete, Steeve produced an amazing performance over the final kilometre, pulling clear to win in a time of 1:58:17, one minute clear of a tight race for second. → READ MORE
